Policies
Submissions, rights, permissions, and privacy.
- Submissions
- Hyperborean Press does not currently accept unsolicited manuscript submissions. We are a small press building a short, deliberate list, and our editorial calendar is booked in advance. If a future submissions window opens, it will be announced on this page and in Dispatches.
- Rights and Foreign Translation
- Translation, dramatic, audio, and other subsidiary rights inquiries should be directed to conan@hyperboreanpress.com with “Rights inquiry” in the subject line. Please include the language or territory you represent and the title of interest. We respond to all serious inquiries.
- Permissions and Quotation
- Brief excerpts from our books may be quoted for review or scholarly purposes without prior permission, with proper attribution to the author, title, and Hyperborean Press. For longer excerpts, anthology use, classroom course packets, or other reproduction, please contact conan@hyperboreanpress.com.
- Review and Desk Copies
- Print review copies are available to qualified booksellers, librarians, and members of the press. Requests should identify the requesting publication, store, library, or institution and include a shipping address. See the Booksellers page for trade terms and ordering information.
- Returns
- Hyperborean Press titles are fully returnable through the Ingram Content Group standard returns process. See the Booksellers page for full trade terms.
- Privacy
- hyperboreanpress.com does not collect personal information from visitors and does not use cookies for advertising or tracking. The site does not host third-party advertising. The Dispatches mailing list, when active, will collect only the email address provided by the subscriber and will be used solely to send the newsletter; subscribers may unsubscribe at any time. We do not sell, rent, or share subscriber lists.
- Pseudonymity
- Hyperborean Press publishes books under the names by which their authors prefer to be known. Several of our authors write under pen names. Our editor publishes under the name Conan. Pseudonymity has been a feature of wisdom literature from the beginning - the Tao Te Ching itself is pseudonymous - and we consider it part of the editorial tradition we work in.
- Imprint
- Hyperborean Press is an independent literary publisher. The press was reforged in 2016 under the leadership of Conan, our editor. Distribution is provided by Ingram Content Group. Our ISBN block is 979-8-9946906. The press is the publisher of record for both its print and digital editions.
